Privacy policy

Your privacy is taken seriously. This page describes, in plain terms, the (few) data this site processes, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

No data collection

This site is purely informational. It has no form, no user account, and no newsletter signup. No personal data is collected directly by the publisher.

Cookies and trackers

This site sets no cookie and uses no tracker or audience-measurement tool (no Google Analytics, Matomo, Plausible, etc.). No consent is therefore required and no cookie banner is needed.

Local storage (preferences)

Your display preferences (light/dark theme, language and reading profile) are stored in your browser's local storage. The home page also keeps the latest version numbers and star counts read from GitHub there for six hours, so it does not ask again on every visit. This information stays on your device, is never sent to a server, and you can clear it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser.

Fonts

Fonts are hosted directly on the site. No request is sent to a third-party service (no Google Fonts), so no data is transmitted as a result.

Requests to GitHub

To show the latest published versions and the repositories' star counts, the home page reads two small files from raw.githubusercontent.com and queries GitHub's public API (api.github.com). The guide also loads images from raw.githubusercontent.com. These requests carry no cookie or identifier, but like any web request they send your IP address to GitHub, which already hosts the site.

Card verification page

The verification page checks a Perf Sentinel share card in your browser. The card data sits after the # in the link: it stays in your browser and never reaches the server. A file you drop on the page is read in your browser and never uploaded. Only the "Check … with Cloudflare" button contacts a third party: it asks Cloudflare DNS, then Google Public DNS if Cloudflare does not answer, for the key published by the organisation the card names. The resolver asked sees that organisation's domain name and your IP address. See the Cloudflare DNS privacy policy and the Google Public DNS privacy notice.

Hosting and logs

Like any web host, GitHub Pages may record technical connection data (IP address, browser type) for operational and security purposes. This processing is GitHub's; see GitHub's privacy statement.

External links

The site links to third-party services (GitHub, crates.io, docs.rs, LinkedIn, the Institut du Numérique Responsable website) which have their own privacy policies. The publisher is not responsible for their practices.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data. As the site holds no personal data about you, such requests mainly concern the host. For any question: robin.trassard@gmail.com. You may also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data-protection authority (cnil.fr).
